The short of it is that I’m an old East Texas boy (Gladewater) who loves Jesus and the Outdoors. I’ve been hunting since before I could walk… literally. There are pictures of me being carried on my first coon hunt at age 1. Only to be capture falling asleep on top on an old blue-tick hound we had.
Spent my entire life hunting, fishing, shooting, camping, hiking, etc… I prefer bow hunting. (Mathews DXT)
I am radically in love with my wife Stephanie and our 4 boys – Caleb, Josiah, Levi, and Silas. My love for Jesus and the outdoors has fueled my life and taken us from Texas to California to Florida and now back to California.
I am blessed to have a Bachelor of Science in Forestry from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas with an emphasis in Forest Recreation and Wildlife Biology and a Master’s in Christian Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.
Stephanie and I have been serving the local church together over the past 13 years and currently serve as a Spiritual Growth Pastor at Friends Church in Yorba Linda, California. Also serving on the Faculty of Rockbridge Seminary – a fully-online seminary. Prior to pastoring I served the corporate world as a Professional Forester for Stone Container Corporation (now Smurfit Stone) and Jeff Neil Timberland Management.
During 2009-2010 while serving at Christ Fellowship in south Florida a member of the church Jeff Wait Okeechobee Shooting Sports allowed me the great privilege of serving as the “Range Chaplain” at his outdoor range.
By the way, if you live in the Southeast, are looking for a great retreat and/or a great vacation experience you’ve got to get connected with Jeff at Okeechobee Shooting Sports in Okeechobee, Florida. You will be blessed!
I am not sure either of us knew what a Range Chaplain did, does, or even if one exists. However, over a year and a half as a Pastor in that area I had the honor of spending time, praying, counseling, talking with persons from all walks of life, reading scripture with and just listening to hundreds of men and women as they participated in the love of the outdoors and the shooting sports. It was a blessing that still lives in me to this day and I pray I can pass on to you as you journey with us.
Over the past several years Jeff has continued to encourage me to share about my love for Jesus and the outdoors. So we developed Chaplain to the Outdoorsmen…to serve the people we love.
We look forward to serving you and your families as Jesus inspires, encourages, and leads.
